What Has Been Neglected…
Nehemiah 1:3-4
It may seem over-whelming when we see the state of our nation, our families, our marriages, our homes and our churches. We need to do as Nehemiah did. He fasted, prayed, and openly cried regarding the state of families, communities, churches, marriages, relationships, and the Spiritual conditions he observed for about four months. After much prayer, weeping, and reading God’s Word, Nehemiah rose to his feet, trusted God and acted. After months of prayer and spiritual contemplation, he had a plan that was etched on his heart and mind by the hand of God.
Nehemiah saw the walls of Jerusalem rebuilt in fifty-five days. Even those who opposed him and disliked him stood in disbelief at the achievements of God. God’s loving intervention had corrected major problems, had caused cooperation, and action out of what had been sheer chaos, disintegration, and decay for nearly ninety years. This nation and most of the world today is much like Jerusalem was then. Our nation’s primary building block, the family is in pain, hurting, falling apart and desperately needs rebuilding and a refocus on the part of Christians and the Christian church.
As in Nehemiah’s time, the task before us needs God’s intervention as never before. We need to be in constant prayer that Christ will help and that as churches, leaders, and families we will not neglect what God has given us. Men it is time for us to rise and take our rightful position and rebuild what has been neglected!
